FROM AN ARTICLE BY JOHN MADDOCKS IN THE JANUARY 1996 CITY MAGAZINE
When this game was played we were in the top half of the table and Birmingham were in bottom slot.
…While our manager John Bond and Birmingham boss Ron Saunders were conducting a war of words, it was down to John’s son Kevin to open the scoring in the 32nd minute. The home keeper, a guy called Tony Coton, punched away an Asa Hartford free kick and Bond junior slammed the ball home through a ruck of defenders.
An equaliser came for Birmingham before the interval through Mick Ferguson, who utterly deceived Joe Corrigan from 25 yards, and eight minutes into the second half another great Ferguson drive gave the Brummies the lead. …Then former Coventry City player Peter Bodak raced round the back of the defence to score his only League goal for our Blues.
