FROM THE PRESS BOX

newcastle Evening Chronicle

… in a seven minute spell Manchester City slammed in three and might easily have doubled this total before a last minute penalty made their total four.
… Until City’s first goal in the 65th minute it was a game which could have gone either way.
Sunderland played some attractive football in midfield, and while they never looked as dangerous as their opponents near goal, squandered a great chance of taking the lead just before City scored.
Suggett slipped a couple of strong tackles inside the box, to tee up the ball for Porterfield only eight yards out, but the left half completely muffed the chance.
