Djamel was born in Montreuil –sous-Bois, a suburb of Paris, to Algerian parents on 14th February 1986.
He is an attacking midfielder who joined City in January 2007 at the age of 20 on loan from French Ligue 2 side Ajaccio, where he had spent four years after being spotted playing at youth level with PSG.
He made his debut on 28th January 2007 at home to Southampton in a 4th round FA Cup tie coming on as sub in the 89th minute, however this was to be his only appearance for The Blues.
He was then loaned out again by Ajaccio to Club Sportif Sedan Ardennes where he made 33 appearances during 2007/08 season. He was then transferred to Nantes where he stayed for two years, he then moved to Kavala in 2010 and Olympiacos in 2011.
He then came back to England in 2013 joining Nottingham Forest, however after a short loan with Lokeren, Forest released him and he moved to Veria of Macedonia who released him in 2016 and he never found a new club.
At International level he has played at under 18, 19 and 20 level for France but opted to play for Algeria at senior level, with 11 caps.
