For the opening 20 minutes City looked good and created chances with enterprise. But in the 35th minute Olympiakos scored through Anastopoulos, the striker turning inside Ray Ranson and Andy May to fire past joe Corrigan from 6 yards.
ln the 78th minute Xanthopoulos, one of several home substitutes, clinched the game when he finished off a left-wing cross from Lemonis at the near post.
City‘s midfield gave a stubborn display and” second half sub Chris Jones made himself a couple of chances to brighten the gloom of another tour defeat.
However, City will not be allowed to pursue their interest in Sinai because he is unable to obtain a work permit, coming as he does from a country outside the Common Market.
