In front of a packed St James’ Park crowd the game was decided as early as the third minute when Robson converted a penalty after Glyn Pardoe clumsily brought down Scott in the area.
Newcastle controlled the game for the rest of the half. Despite City having the majority of the possession in the second period they let themselves down in the attacking third.
