Manchester City are still waiting for their first win of the season.
The Blues suffered another 90 minutes of frustration as they slumped to a 2-1 setback against Stoke City at Maine Road this afternoon.
City were left stunned by a two goals in four minutes burst from the Potteries side in the first half and rarely looked like staging a recovery.
Dutch import Loek Ursem struck the first blow with a goal after 35 minutes, and four minutes later Lee Chapman cracked in the second.
Dennis Tueart put some heart back into the Blues when he headed home just before the interval, but City never made a fight of it after the resumption.

  1. Hello
I’m amazed to find such detail on this game. This was my first City match, one week after my 8th birthday. I recalled we’d lost 1-2 and that Dennis Tueart had scored…he was my favourite player at the time. Its funny the things you recall, on Mondays at school we had to draw about what we’d done at the weekend, and I remember drawing those red and white stripes! Its an instant back-to-the-future moment and its Monday morning 22nd September 1980!
Massive thanks for this – I’ve bookmarked the page. Incidentally, we stood on the corner between the Kippax and the Platt Lane stand. He used to christen it Coward’s Corner. I don’t know if that is a personal one or others knew it as this ?
Again, thanks for this I will make a donation.
    Great work!
    Regards,
    Ian Barton
