ASA HARTFORD SCORES CITY’S FIRST GOAL
Liverpool’s season appeared to be disintegrating around them after a miserable 3-1 loss to Manchester City.
Goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar cut a hapless figure as City achieved their first win at Anfield since 1953.
Asa Hartford drove a left foot shot past Grobbelaar in the ninth minute, Liverpool did have chances to equalise but Joe Corrigan was contrastingly a commanding prescence in goal.

When Grobbelaar dropped the ball after Phil Thompson skied a clearance, 18 year old Steve Kinsey drove the ball towards goal and forced a retreating Thompson to use his hands to save. Kevin Bond converted the penalty.
Ronnie Whelan pulled one back but with a minute left Kevin Reeves got a touch to a Kinsey cross and the ball spun behind Grobbelaar off the upright to make it 3-1.
