City dominated a poor game and should have won by a greater margin than the solitary Johnny Crossan goal scored in the 13th minute.
Mike Summerbee pounced on a stray ball caused by confusion in the Tangerine’s defence and he crossed to the feet of Crossan who beat the Blackpool custodian with a low drive.
Crossan should have made it 2-0 seven minutes later but he missed from the penalty spot.
Chances were thin after that but City were happy to leave the seaside with both points.
