FRANNY LEE SCORES HIS RECORD BREAKING 13TH PENALTY OF THE SEASON
ANOTHER GOAL FOR FRANNY
Top of the League City, without the injured Tommy Booth, faced the Champions from Highbury who were unbeaten in sixteen games, and looking to catch The Citizens in the chase for the Championship.
In possibly the best controlled performance of the season City defied The Gunners’ challenge and in fact Mike Doyle and Alan Oakes masterly kept Arsenal’s strikers at bay, to the extent that they had no significant effort on target all game.
The difference up front was Francis Lee who grabbed both goals in a fantastic display. The first came from a first half penalty after Pat Rice inexplicably handled in the box, it was a record breaking 13th penalty conversion of the season for Lee.
In the second half Lee struck again, starting the move in his own half, exchanging passes with Mike Summerbee and then tried to find Colin Bell, however the ball bounced back off a defender and Lee smashed the ball into the net to set up a great victory for The Blues.
