DAVID WHITE CELEBRATES PUTTING CITY IN TO THE 4TH ROUND

MATCH REPORT FROM THE MANCHESTER CITY OFFICIAL HANDBOOK 1994/95
Chelsea seemed intent on taking the tie back for a London replay with negative tactics.
Garry Flitcroft’s header just over the Chelsea bar from a well-flighted Steve Lomas corner was the best effort of the first half. But the City attack failed to profit from some attractive approach play. Then manager Brian Horton decided on a bold move to try and unlock Chelsea. He brought on Michel Vonk with ten minutes left and ordered the central defender to go for broke alongside Niall Quinn in attack.
Two minutes later Vonk headed into the path of David White whose lethal finish booked City’s ticket into the last sixteen of the competition.
