WHAT THE PAPERS SAID
Telegraph

…An 81st minute goal set up by Joe Cole, nearly forced home by substite Don Hutchison and then stabbed in by Frederic Kanoute, may not be enough to retain a Premiership place conservatively estimated to be worth £20 Million.
… For much of those first 80 minutes West Ham had been going in the same direction they have for much of the season : backwards. Manchester City had enough possession to have plunged the dagger into West Ham’s fast sinking reputation as a traditional home of attractive play.
