MATCH REPORT FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS 28TH APRIL 1993
Manchester City rose above a South American “dirty tricks” campaign to preserve a 100% record from their mini-tour to Japan last night.
A first half header from David White was enough to secure victory for the Blues who were subjected to endless provocation from Hitachi’s trio of Brazilian imports including former World Cup star Nelsinho.
Peter Reid’s players somehow kept a rein on their tempers despite the shirt-tugging, play-acting antics of the Brazilians.
White’s match-winner came ten minutes from the interval when City’s leading marksman rose to a clever lob from Fitzroy Simpson to nod home his 19th goal of the season.
