RON GIRVIN WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 16TH NOVEMBER 1991
The Manchester Derby was a fast and frenzied affair at Maine Road but it ended goalless.
The football was not spectacular in this top of the table battle and the first half was dominated by some tough tackling.
Both City player-manager, Peter Reid and United’s Neil Webb were booked, the latter for a tackle on Adrian Heath, who was in a car accident on his way to the ground.
A bad back pass by United Gary Pallister almost let in Michael Hughes, but a minute into the second half Tony Coton produced a brilliant save to foil Clayton Blackmore from 10 yards out.
