FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 15TH MAY 1982
Manchester City were left with an uphill battle at Sunderland, when Salford-born Mick Buckley put the home side in front after 14 minutes.
And but for the alert goalkeeping of Joe Corrigan, the Roker side might have increased their lead.
The Blues made a spirited fightback in the second half, but failed to find chances in front of goal.
City brought off Steve Kinsey in the closing stages, to allow Clive Wilson into the action.
