FITZROY SIMPSON SCORES CITY’S SECOND GOAL

FROM THE PRESS BOX

MATCH REPORT FROM THE SUNDAY LIFE 4TH OCTOBER 1992
Manchester City scored their first goal for over 400 minutes but still could not win at Maine Road yesterday.
In a fast flowing game full of good football City were twice ahead, but bottom club Forest came back to snatch only their sixth point of the season.
Rick Holden put City ahead in the 17th minute with his first goal since a £900,000 August move from Oldham. Fitzroy Simpson won the ball in the forest box after Niall Quinn had headed the ball on and Holden scored with a crisp shot from six yards.

Forest equalised with a brilliant four-man move after 56 minutes.
Toddi Oroygsson swept the ball into the City box and Gary Crosby and Scot Gemmill combined for Ray McKinnon to fire home from 12 yards.
It was Mckinnon’s first goal for Forest since his £750,000 move from Dundee United in the summer.
City regained the lead eight minutes later.
Forest goalkeeper Mark Crossley failed to clear Terry Phelan’s cross under pressure from Quinn and Simpson smashed the ball in from six yards.
But Forest skipper Stuart Pearce levelled the scores again seven minutes from time.
