Gary Flitcroft scored his first goal for Manchester City but the Blues crashed 3-1 to Ipswich at Portman Road.
City’s talented young midfield man repaid manager Peter Reid’s faith in him when he smashed Terry Phelan’s pass into the back of the net eight minutes before half-time.
But it all went wrong after the break when Ipswich sored twice in four minutes through Mick Stockwell and Gavin Johnson, and then added a late killer through Paul Goddard.
