REPORT FROM THE MANCHESTER CITY OFFICIAL HANDBOOK 1992/93
On paper the differences between these teams from the First and Third Divisions was obvious enough. On the night it was less apparent as the minnows of Chester tore into their illustrious opponents and threatened to set up a proverbial giant-killing act.
Lady Luck certainly smiled on City in the first-half as Chester’s attacking willingness was somehow denied a goal. Early in the second-half City picked up pace with David White’s header flashing into the net. Refusing to be intimidated Chester hit back to equalise 20 minutes from time. Further goals from White and Niall Quinn, however, lent respectability to the scoreline.
