PETER GARDNER WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 29TH OCTOBER 1988 Andy Hinchcliffe's first goal of the season pulled Manchester City back into a pulsating, and at times angry confrontation against Sunderland this afternoon. Gordon Armstrong had given the Wearsiders a 29th minute lead with a far post header following a classic build-up. But then the Blues denied a blatant penalty, found justice going their way when Hinchcliffe accepted Neil McNab's short free kick to blast in the equaliser. City lost Wayne Biggins through injury shortly into the second half, and a spate of bookings made this an explosive encounter which had more than its share of action and attacking endeavour from two fiercely committed sides...
