FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 9TH DECEMBER 1989 Manchester City lost 2-1 at Southampton after leading for most of the game. The Blues had new boss Howard Kendall, who takes over on Monday, watching in the stands and he saw City storm ahead through Clive Allen. But Saints staged a grandstand finish with Rodney Wallace and Barry Horne grabbing the winner five minutes later.
