League leaders City put out an unchanged side against 'The Shrews' and The Blues were in impressive form from the first whistle. Paul Power anticipated a bad back pass by Gary Hackett and put the Citizens in front after just 5 minutes and within minutes The Blues were 2-0 up courtesy of Andy May. City then withstood a good spell of pressure from Shrewsbury before Steve Kinsey made it 3-0 in the 37th minute with a low left foot shot past Shrewsbury custodian Perks. After the break Gordon Smith wrapped up the scoring in the 62nd to complete an excellent 4-0 victory for City.
