FROM THE PRESS BOX

RON GIRVIN WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 20TH SEPTEMBER 1986 Manchester City, in the midst of a managerial wrangle, found no joy against Queens Park Rangers at Maine Road this afternoon. Seeking their second win of the season, the Blues were held to a goalless draw in a game of little quality. Early on Kenny Clements drove the ball into the net after a free kick by Trevor Christie, but was ruled offside. It was a painful afternoon for referee Guy Aplin who was unable to resume in the second half after hurting a leg.
