Neil Webb scored twice to give Pompey an exciting draw against promotion rivals Manchester City in front of 23,700 at Maine Road. Portsmouth went ahead on eight minutes when Kevin Dillon's pass found Webb unmarked on the edge of the area, and he drilled a fierce shot past Alex Williams. Despite outclassing City it took Pompey until the last seconds of the first half to extend their lead when Nicky Morgan's return pass set up Webb to score again. The match took a dramatic tum in the 72nd minute when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball break to City substitute Gordon Smith, who hammered it past Alan Knight. City equalised six minutes later as Steve Kinsey raced past Malcolm Waldron, cut in and shot low into the corner of the net.   ROGER HOLMES WRITING IN THE PORTSMOUTH PROGRAMME 10TH FEBRUARY 2007
