RICHARD FROST WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 7TH APRIL 1990 Mark Ward rescued Manchester City with an equaliser nine minutes from time to give them a 1-1 draw in a crunching relegation battle at bottom club Millwall. Dave Thompson halted City's high hopes of following up their morale-boosting win at Aston Villa with a 23rd minute header, only his second goal of the season. Slack defensive work let him in as seemingly doomed Millwall put up a spirited battle.
