FROM THE PRESS BOX

STEVE MCHUGH WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 28TH NOVEMBER 1981 Manchester City's brave showing at high-flying Ipswich was upset by a dubious penalty for the Portman Road side. The Blues gave as good as they got until the 63rd minute, when Ray Ranson was ruled to have fouled Kevin O'Callaghan. It seemed a hard decision but John Wark scored from the spot. And eight minutes later substitute Mich D'Avray made it 2-0 fir Ipswich after an error by Bobby McDonald, who had earlier been booked. It was tough on City, whose best chance before the break came when Dennis Tueart had a 19th minute effort blocked on the line. To complete a frustrating afternoon for manager John Bond, he saw his son Kevin Bond booked for an 85th minute foul on D'Avray.
