FROM THE PRESS BOX

JEFF HODGSON WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 25TH APRIL 1981 Manchester City were edged out at Ipswich, who clung on to their slight title hopes at Portman Road. Ipswich, the side City overcame to reach the FA Cup final got the vital break-through after 51 minutes. That's when England man Terry Butcher rose above the Blues' defence to head home a superb centre from John Wark. City brought on substitute Andy May for his first taste of senior football when he replaced Garry Buckley, and he was soon in the thick of the action. May did well to stop Alan Brazil getting in a shot when the Ipswich man broke clear. But City were still fighting dtrongly at the finish, with skipper Paul Power going close to grabbing a point.
