TOMMY BOOTH SCORES AND CELEBRATES

[one_sixth][/one_sixth][five_sixth_last]"It was a thrilling win. Apart from playing the game yourself, the most satisfying thing about football is to see young players, who yesterday looked like school kids, suddenly prove that are not. After the first five minutes I thought we would win. "l don’t want to take anything away from our players. This must be one of the best results in Europe. But looking at it from the purely professional point of view. | detected a touch of the amateur about Gornik. They were not as battle-hardened as us. But we beat them with skill as well as power. JOE MERCER[/five_sixth_last]

NEIL YOUNG CELEBRATES FRANCIS LEE’S GOAL

[one_sixth][/one_sixth][five_sixth_last]"Conditions were quite similar to the final last year in Vienna. Frankly, they were scared of us. There was only one point, early on in the second half when they looked as if they might be a team . . . that was when we soft—peda|led it a bit. When you think about the experience, or lack of it, in the side this was one of the best results we’ve had in my time here. FRANCIS LEE[/five_sixth_last]

NEIL YOUNG SCORES THE THIRD

CHEERS TO THE GOALSCORERS, BOOTH, LEE & YOUNG

"It was a stirring game to watch. When you say the kids became men overnight it sounds a bit corny. But that was exactly what happened. They were a good bit better than in the at Maine Road. l wouldn’t normally pick out individuals because it was a team success, but when a goalkeeper makes a mistake he gets more criticism than the rest of us so when they play well perhaps they should get a bit more praise. Anyhow, Ronnie Healey did some exceptional things."MIKE SUMMERBEE
