PAUL LAKE SCORES CITY'S ONLY GOAL

FROM THE PRESS BOX

FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 5TH DECEMBER 1987 Eric Nixon was sensationally sent off at Maine Road this afternoon. The Manchester City keeper was dismissed in the 70th minute after lashing out at Crystal Palace's Mark Bright. And the Blues paid the penalty by immediately surrendering Paul Lake's one-goal lead to lose 3-1. Steve Redmond took over in goal but had no chance with Neil Redfearn's penalty. And Bright had the last laugh when he made it 2-1 three minutes later. But the drama continued when City's top scorer Paul Stewart missed an 83rd minute penalty before Bright made it 3-1 for Palace.
