FROM THE PRESS BOX

MARK BENSON WRITING IN THE SUNDAY MIRROR 4TH DECEMBER 1988 Keeper Andy Dibble stood firm as Palace gave City a right going over. Ian Wright Palace's, £1million pound. rated striker must have wondered what else he had to do to add to his season's tally of nine goals. City's. Welsh International Dibble pulled off a brilliant 34th minute save turning Wrights flashing close range volley around a post. Just minutes earlier Dibble had denied Wright again, keeping out his first time shot after Phil Barber headed on a John Pemberton, free kick. And when Wright finally looked to have broken the deadlock with a shot heading just inside the post three minutes after half time, Dibble scrambled across to keep it out. Dibble continued to deny Palace ever after a thundering Collision with Mark Bright after 49 minutes. Palace keeper, Brian Parkin was stretched only once, tipping over a dipping drive by Wayne Biggins after 29 minutes. Palace boss Steve Coppell said our Strikers do score consistently for us and a clean sheet at the other end is a rare occurrence.
