HESLOP DEFIES CHELSEA, THEN BEATS THEM

Centre half George Heslop held a tattered ragged defence together to provide at least a semi-balance of cover throughout a first half which saw City regularly riddled by an attack capable of skill and power, but handicapped by appalling inaccuracy. Even more important Heslop was a key figure in the solitary goal which decided it. In the 54th minute he challenged for a Tony Coleman corner and inside right Mick Doyle snapped up a gift chance.
