REPORT FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 25TH NOVEMBER 1989 Clive Allen scored Manchester City's first goal for more than five hours today. Allen struck in the 11th minute to earn the Blues a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at Selhurst Park after Paul Williams had given the home side an early lead. And City could easily have picked up three valuable points to ease their plight at the bottom of the First Division, with £700,000 new boy Colin Hendry having a fine game and going close to snatching the winner.
