FROM MEL MACHIN'S 'TEAM TALK' PUBLISHED IN THE CITY PROGRAMME 17TH DECEMBER 1988 It was good for the lads that they went to the top of the League last week with the 4-0 win against Bradford City. When teams come and play with an extra man at the back, it makes the job harder and the players have to be patient. The first goal was the important one because, alter that, Bradford had to come out a bit more and we killed them off with three goals early in the second half. One of them, Ian Brightwell‘s second, was brilliant. We must have put about ten passes together including a one-two between David White and Neil McNab. Then 'Brighty‘ made about 40 yards to get on the end of David White's cross, so the goal was a reward for his endeavour and workrate. It was the kind of goal you'd gladly travel miles to see. Paul Moulden's first goal came from another fine run and centre by David White. Certainly, when David is on form and being positive in getting the ball across, he is very dangerous...
