City's goal came from a Peter Barnes corner to the far post where Tommy Booth headed down for Dave Watson, who's shot was blocked, but Mick Channon pounced on the rebound and smashed the ball into the net to put City into the lead.

The Blues' lead didn't last long though as Derek Spence forced the ball over the City goal line following a Pashley free-kick which was flicked on by McEwan to take the tie to a replay at Maine Road.
