JEFF HODGSON WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 6TH FEBRUARY 1988 City were up against it from the start at Blackburn, bidding to stretch their unbeaten run to 20 League games. But Blackburn needed a third minute blunder by City's on-loan debut keeper Mike Stowell to take the lead. He allowed a harmless shot from Simon Garner to get past him. Imre Varadi gave the Blues hope with a goal after 62 minutes but Blackburn were back for their second goal from Chris Price after 77 minutes.
