FROM THE PRESS BOX

MATCH REPORT FROM IRELAND’S SATURDAY NIGHT 3RD APRIL 1993
Ipswich, looking for a first League win in 10 games, made a whirlwind start against Manchester City, but they were shellshocked by a three-goal blast in the second half.
The East Anglian’s went ahead in the second minute. Michel Vonk failed to cut out a through ball and Gavin Johnson pounced to score with a low shot.
Ipswich should have scored in the opening minute when Guentchev wasted a good heading chance and allowed Coton to save.
City’s best efforts in the early exchanges came from Mike Sheron and Peter Reid who both went close.
City’s defence were finding it difficult to cope with the swirling wind and the fast raiding visitors attack.
The game went off the boil with neither side creating any real chances. Niall Quinn hit a 20 yard drive straight at the Ipswich keeper.
Jason Dozzell, making his 400th senior appearance for Ipswich broke clear but his final pass found Williams offside.
Both sides were finding difficulty controlling the ball and keeping the feet because of the strong wind.
Just when Ipswich looked like winning City struck with goals from Republic of Ireland striker Niall Quinn, Michel Vonk and former Oldham winger Andy Holden.
