FROM AN ARTICLE BY JOHN MADDOCKS PUBLISHED IN THE CITY PROGRAMME 28TH APRIL 1990 ... Derby County, were booked for a spell in the Second Division in 1980 but the strength of their first-half display against City at the Baseball Ground would have made a stranger wonder just which side was going down, the Blues being pulled apart by Bylie and new signing Swindlehurst. It was the latter who broke the ice after just 7 minutes. He shook off the attentions of two City players and sent a rocket past the shaken Corrigan. And in another 7 minutes we were two down. Daly drove the ball goalwards, Nicky Reid's shins deflected the shot and Big Joe was bending down again. Futcher resorted to desperate and heavy-handed tactics just before half-time, hauling Biley to the floor; Biley picked himself up, dusted himself down, and despatched the penalty accurately. There was to be little joy for City fans after the break until the 83rd minute when a Tueart header gave the scoreline the merest hint of respectability.
